Commercial and multiple occupancy buildings are required by law to provide clear escape routes, free from smoke to allow occupants unimpeded escape, as well as provide first responders and fire crews access during an emergency.

How does an AOV system work?

AOV systems are generally coupled with an alarm or detector system to work in the event of a fire. When a detector or call point is triggered an AOV control system will open actuators, windows or vents to create ventilation. This clears smoke for people leaving the building and vents smoke out of the area that has been triggered.

What are the benefits of an AOV system?

Using AOVs reduces the amount of smoke and heat contained in a building during a fire. This benefits residents or workers inside, as they are likely to inhale less harmful smoke during evacuation.

Enhanced visibility is created when an AOV is present in a smoke situation, as the smoke and heat is allowed to rise, leaving lower levels more clear than they would be without ventilation.

System Design

Our Design Team possess a wealth of experience and success in designing and specifying compliant fire life safety solutions.

All designers are trained and certificated by BAFE in accordance with SP203 and BS:5839 and are experts in professionally evaluating our customers’ needs to produce compliant designs with a focus on engineering value added solutions.

We have successfully delivered hundreds of new build, refurbishment and upgrade projects of networked systems, PC based graphics, specially engineered control panels and complex cause and effects configurations.


Our installation team is vastly experienced in all types of installation.

All in house, installation engineers hold FIA and BAFE qualifications in addition to CSCS/CCNSG and annual asbestos awareness training.

For new build projects we have an excellent understanding of the construction process and the considerate approach and good communications that are required to deliver projects.

For existing occupied premises we have a wealth of expertise and proven processes to undertake installations without impacting on our customers operations.

To ensure that your system is installed and operates to the highest standard, all completed installations are certificated under BS:5839 and BAFE SP203.

Commissioning & Handover

We pride ourselves on submitting compliant designs and undertaking well structured installations with meticulous attention to the highest standards of Health and Safety.

We are experienced in programming and commissioning very complex systems cause and effects. This may involve investigation time delays, day/night mode, coincidence/double knock mode and phased evacuation processes, with particular emphasis on the CFOA Policy for the Reduction in Unwanted Alarms and Fire Brigade Attendance.

It is our policy to involve the Commissioning Engineer at the earliest stages of a project and gain their vital input in regards to the systems’ commissioning requirements. Our connected approach minimises the time at the time sensitive end of a project.

Once the system is commissioned full end user training is given both in the operation of the control equipment and the user’s responsibility for the management and maintenance of the fire detection system.

Emergency Call Out

Our emergency call out service is maintained 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in the event you require our support.

We provide on-site assistance in accordance with the response times dictated by BAFE and the NSI

Equipped at all times with extensive vehicle stock, our Service Engineers can undertake minor works at time of the corrective maintenance visit, replacing damaged equipment at time of initial call out.

Technical Support Desk

To support our customers requirement for an immediate response we have established our Technical Support Desk which is manned 24/7 by trained and qualified fire and security Engineers.

Utilising the latest technology, our Technical Support Operators can provide you with an immediate remote solution avoiding the need for the physical attendance of a Service Engineer.
